Rotherham shoppers will be able to park longer for less when they visit the town centre.
From next month, customers will be able to park in council-owned car parks for four hours for £2, instead of £2.80. All-day parking will be almost halved, coming down from £6.50 to £3.50.
Unfortunately, shorter stay charges will increase so that two hours will cost £1.50 instead of £1.20 and on-street parking charges will increase by 50p so that 30 minutes will cost £1, an hour £1.50 and two hours will be £3.
Rotherham Council’s Advisory Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, Cllr Denise Lelliott, said: “Decreasing the costs of medium and longer stay parking will allow people to come to do their shopping and stop for a cup of tea or lunch without the worry of restrictive parking prices. We want to encourage people to stay in the town centre to shop for longer.”
Last Autumn, Rotherham Council invested £50,000 in Wellgate’s multi-storey ‘pay on exit’ system so drivers could visit Rotherham without feeling pressured to return to their vehicles. Since that time, both medium and long-term parking have increased significantly, which ultimately benefits businesses in the town centre.
The changes will come into effect on the 1st April, 2016.
The multi storey car park which is where we recommend all of our clients to park is situated across from the salon and is a pay on exit car park so you dont feel pressured into returning to your car by a certain time.
